The Sheridan Junior High School FBLA students recently competed in the District IV Spring Conference brining home multiple awards ranging from first to fifth place. Two students were also named district officers. Results are as follows:

Several Sheridan High School students received their ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification, which is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)–Conference for Food Protection (CFP).
College of the Ouachitas (COTO) has received an unrestricted gift of $25,000 from West Fraser. As acknowledgment of the gift, the College Board of Trustees approved a naming recognition, establishing the West Fraser Training Room in the CAST Building.
On May 20, SIS Principal Teresa Knight presented the Daughters of the American Revolution Youth Citizenship Medal to Anna Moss, a 6th grade student at SIS. The medal is designated for a student who exemplifies the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism.
Virgil and Beverly (Damron) Gwinn of Sheridan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 19. They were married in Sheridan on Sept. 19, 1969, at Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Founded in 1953 the Lions Club of Sheridan has provided continuous service to the community for the past 64 years. Since 1998 the Lions Club has presented annual scholarships to two outstanding graduating seniors of Sheridan High School.
