During the 2022-2023 indoor/outdoor track season, the Sheridan Yellowjackets and Lady Yellowjackets broke 11 school records, while receiving a plethora of post-season awards.
The annual Arkansas Meet of Champions was held in Russellville on Wednesday, May 10. The Meet of Champs brings together athletes from each of the state’s seven classifications, pitting the state champions of each division against one another.
The Sheridan Yellowjackets had a short stay in the 5A State Baseball Playoffs, falling 3-2 to Maumelle in the first round of the tournament, which was held in Marion.
The Poyen Indians advanced to the Class 2A State Tournament by way of a couple of upset wins at the regional level. They were rewarded with a game against the top-seeded Greenland Pirates, who were also the hosts of the tournament.
The Sheridan Lady Yellowjackets were able to play their first game in the Class 5A State Softball Playoffs before weather would alter and delay games. Sheridan took the field against the Maumelle Lady Hornets, winning by the score of 7-1.

The Poyen Indians’ baseball team will be playing in the Class 2A State Playoffs for the first time since 2017. Their unlikely trip to the tournament started Monday, May 1, in the first round of the regional tournament at Magnet Cove.
