EEFD adds ladder truck to fleet

The East End Fire Department recently acquired a new edition to its fire fleet: a 105-foot ladder truck. The ladder truck, dubbed “Ladder One,” was fully refurbished after years of service to the DFW International Airport.

Homestead Credit changes could benefit taxpayers

Arkansas Homestead Credit is changing for assessment year 2023, allowing property owners who take advantage of this credit to pay lower real estate taxes.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, Kevin Kelley was announced as the next Sheridan Head Football Coach to an energized crowd during the high school basketball games against Pine Bluff. The night before, the Sheridan School Board made the news official by unanimously approving the hire.

SSD Board approves new coach

The Sheridan School Board announced that the district had hired Kevin Kelley as its new head football coach during its monthly meeting last Monday. Kelley is said to be one of the most successful and innovative coaches to ever roam the sidelines in Arkansas high school football.

A fitness to proceed hearing has been set in the criminal case against a man accused of a 2019 Grapevine homicide and a subsequent shootout with police.

Santa joins first annual Tull Christmas parade

The Town of Tull held its first Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 14. Yep, that’s right, the small town of Tull on the north end of Grant County has joined the league of cities with parades.

Pickle ball, anyone? At the December meeting of the Sheridan City Council, Park and Recreation Department Supervisor Joel Stanton announced that the pickle ball courts at the Recreation Center are open.

Class of 1976 Memorial Bench placed at SHS

Members of the Sheridan High School’s Class of 1976 recently donated a bench to be placed on campus in memory of classmates who have passed away before them. The bench was placed at SHS on Nov. 30.

Wreaths Across America ceremonies set for Dec. 16

Wreaths Across America will be held Saturday, Dec. 16 across the United States, and local communities will hold their own ceremonies at local cemeteries.

Christmas on the Square set for Dec. 2

The 2023 Christmas on the Square will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 in the downtown area of Sheridan.
