On Tuesday, Dec. 12, Kevin Kelley was announced as the next Sheridan Head Football Coach to an energized crowd during the high school basketball games against Pine Bluff. The night before, the Sheridan School Board made the news official by unanimously approving the hire.
SSD Board approves new coach
The Sheridan School Board announced that the district had hired Kevin Kelley as its new head football coach during its monthly meeting last Monday. Kelley is said to be one of the most successful and innovative coaches to ever roam the sidelines in Arkansas high school football.
Class of 1976 Memorial Bench placed at SHS
Members of the Sheridan High School’s Class of 1976 recently donated a bench to be placed on campus in memory of classmates who have passed away before them. The bench was placed at SHS on Nov. 30.

The Sheridan School Board meetings have a tradition of being opened by a prayer from a student within the district, but recently that activity has been called into question for being unconstitutional.
Board recognizes SSD principals
This past Monday saw the monthly school board meeting at East End Middle School. The meeting held several highlights, the first of which was the district principals being recognized by superintendent Dr. Karla Neathery in honor of October being principal appreciation month.
