Sheridan hits ground running against Mountain Home and never looks back
RUSSELLVILLE - The Sheridan Yellowjackets put together one of its most complete performances, dismantling the Mountain Home Bombers in the process by a score of 33-7 and racking up stats that even surprised the coaches. The Jackets, playing on a clear, pleasant evening at Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys Stadium as a home game, started in with the run and pretty much kept it on the ground the entire game, picking up 379 yards in 44 attempts.

Poyen takes its time but eventually puts Bismarck away
Brandon Sanchez caught the game-opening kickoff from Bismarck on Friday, swung around the right side, caught some nice blocks and didn't slow down until he stepped into the end zone. Most of the rest of the game would be more difficult for the Indians, but Sanchez would continue to churn out yards as he dodged defenders, and the defense would make several big plays en route to a solid 30-14 victory at home.

Coach's Corner
Coach, nice game last night. It was a good crowd, on both sides of the field, and Bismarck came ready to play. You didn't really put them away until late so, the players had to stay focused for almost all 48 minutes. Give us your overall thoughts on how the night went.

Poyen ties Jessieville in scrimmage
The Poyen Indians played to a tie with Jessieville last Tuesday night, but Head Coach Vick Barrett said he was pleased with his team's performance. The Indians got the ball three times and scored twice, and had it not been for a fumble, it would have walked into the end zone on that third possession as well.

Coach's Corner: Q and A with Sheridan Head Coach Lance Parker:
Q. Wow, great game last night. It wasn't perfect, but it was awfully close, certainly a very complete performance by your squad on opening night. Some really nice running plays, the TD pass, and a defense that was perfect. What were your thoughts: A. Offense: We had a good night offensively. They threw us a curve ball with some of their techniques. We were getting bear crawled inside, which is legal, but you don't see much. And getting chopped on counters and powers, which is not legal. We don't use our practice time to go over illegal stuff, but our line did a great job adjusting on the fly. I thought we threw with some poise when we had to. That was a rare performance in terms of production. 380 yards rushing is tough to do. I can only remember one other time in my career playing or coaching I have been a part of more rushing yards than that. After reviewing the film, it was quality execution from the line, fullback and ball carrier. It is great to watch the kids have that kind of success at what they have worked so hard at. We have to continue to develop as a passing team in order to balance out defenses.
