Freshman Jackets come up short on the road
The Sheridan Freshman Yellowjackets could not keep up the pace in a high-scoring 36-27 road loss to Sylvan Hills on Thursday, Oct. 14.
While the Jackets were outgained in total yardage 378-227, Sheridan made the most of its few chances on offense.
In Sheridan's 20 plays in the game, the Jackets were able to average 11.4 yards per snap. Sylvan Hills managed to control the time of possession, helped by running 45 plays on the ground.

Jackets overpowered by Bears on the ground
The Sheridan Yellowjackets (2-5 overall, 0-4 in the 6A-East Conference) fell 28-6 to the Sylvan Hills Bears (6-1, 4-0) on the road on Friday, Oct. 15.
The Jackets were unable to slow down the Bears' running attack, giving up 315 yards. Sheridan were able to keep the Bears from completing any of their three passes.

Late failed conversion leads to loss for Jr. Indians
The Poyen Junior Indians kept pace with the Mount Ida Lions throughout the game, but a failed conversion late in the game led to a 24-22 road loss on Thursday, Oct. 14.
Poyen and Mount Ida traded scores throughout an evenly matched game. Both teams finished with 278 yards of total offense. Poyen ran 36 plays and had 118 yards through the air and 160 yards on the ground. The Lions ran a total of 32 plays and had 253 rushing yards and 25 passing yards.

Penalties doom Indians on senior night
The Poyen Indians (4-3 overall, 0-1 in the 5-2A Conference) had senior night spoiled thanks to a late penalty in their conference opener against the Mount Ida Lions (4-3, 1-1), falling 20-14 at home on Friday, Oct. 15.
Poyen controlled the line of scrimmage and had a chance to win the game late.
The Indians ran 62 plays to Mount Ida's 50 and had a total of 329 yards to the Lions' 250, even without the full services of quarterback Colton Lowe.

Indians silence Thunderbirds on homecoming
Friday, Oct. 8 was Homecoming night at Poyen and the Indians (4-2) marked the occasion with a 32-14 beatdown of the Cross County Thunderbirds (1-4).
Poyen rushed for 397 yards on 41 carries, averaging 9.7 yards per carry. Poyen held its homecoming opponent to just 2.8 yards per carry (36 attempts for 104 yards) in the game. The Indians also forced two turnovers.
Poyen set the tone early, with a three-play, 46-yard drive on it's first possession. Colton Lowe capped off the drive with a 35-yard scamper for a touchdown.
