The success of the U.S. Women’s soccer team has been an inspiration to  Sheridan High School players, with one saying it shows that it’s not just men who can accomplish great things.

Several Sheridan High School girls’ soccer players said they were exhilarated by the phenomenal success of the United States Women’s Soccer team, but their coach said the effects of such a performance won’t be felt for years to come.

Coach Kirby Johnson said of the players he has now, “I’ve already got them. I won’t get to see the impact of this World Cup win for five to 12 years when the kids in the first, second and third grades start playing.”

U.S. women's soccer team is this generation's Dream Team
It happened again. The U.S. women’s soccer team won another championship, this time it was the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, taking down the Netherlands 2-0 on Sunday, July 7.
For the women’s soccer team, winning championships has started to become a habit. The team’s appearance in the World Cup final was their third in a row, setting a record (the U.S. lost to Japan in 2011 before defeating the Japanese for the title in 2015).
