Lady Jackets secure top seed in state tournament
The Sheridan Lady Yellowjackets gather together on the field after defeating Greenwood 5-2 in the championship game of the 6A-West Conference Tournament on Saturday, May 5. The win makes the Lady Jackets the No. 1 seed going into the state tournament, which will be held at Greenwood beginning on  Thursday, May 10. Sheridan received a bye in the first round and will play the winner of the game between Mountain Home and Texarkana at 3 p.m. Friday, May 11.

Puckett's 28 strikeouts lift Poyen to regional championship
The Poyen Lady Indians won three games in three days to secure the 2A-South Regional Tournament Championship, which was held in Poyen last week.
Over the course of the three-game event, Poyen pitcher Kindi Puckett pitched every inning for the Lady Indians, striking out a total of 28 batters in 21 innings.

Sheridan's Strong and Godwin win championships at 6A State Track Meet in Russellville
The Sheridan High School boys and girls track teams were in Russellville on Thursday, May 3 to take part in the Class 6A State Track Meet.
The hosting Lady Wolves of Lake Hamilton won the state championship with a total score of 100 points, edging out the next two competitors, including the Sheridan Lady Yellowjackets.

Poyen athletes earn points at Class 2A State Track Meet
On Wednesday, May 2, the Poyen High School track and field team made their way to Mineral Springs to take part in the Class 2A State Track Meet.
The event was won by the Earle Bulldogs with a combined score of 92, greatly distancing themselves away from the second-place Parkers Chapel Trojans’ score of 61.
