Sheridan has new scoring leader: Tyler Cacciatori
On Dec. 19, 2019, Sheridan senior Tyler Cacciatori did something that no other player in school history has done. He scored 53 points to set the single-game scoring record for the school, breaking Bart Reid's record of 52 points.

Jackets hold Lake Hamilton at bay
The Sheridan Yellowjackets (8-4 overall, 1-0 in the 5A-South Conference) opened up the 2020 calendar year by hosting the Lake Hamilton Wolves (10-4, 0-1) on Friday, Jan. 10.
While Sheridan started the game strongly, taking a commanding lead in the first two quarters, the Wolves came storming back. At the end, the Jackets were able to hold off the Wolves to win by the score of 43-41.

2019 Sheridan Football Sports Banquet honors varsity players
The annual sports banquet was held for the Sheridan High football team at the First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, January 8th to ring in the new year. The coaching staff took part of the evening to thank the parents and students for a successful football season and to award the students who have performed above and beyond their duties on the field. The church auditorium was filled from wall to wall with the players and all of their family and friends to enjoy the evening together while dining on some fantastic barbecue.

Indians' youth has no problem with Eagles
On Friday, Jan. 10, teams from Poyen were back on their home court for the first time since early December, facing off against Cutter Morning Star.

The younger teams took center stage first, with neither having a problem getting the win over their opponents. The seventh-grade Lady Indians started things off with a 16-5 victory. Despite the large margin of victory, the game was not as close as the final score indicated.

Lady Indians soar past Eagles
The Poyen Lady Indians (10-2 overall, 5-1 in the 5-2A South Conference) returned to the confines of the Jerry and Ouida Newton Arena for the first time in a month on Friday, Jan. 10 to take on conference foe Cutter Morning Star.
