Yellowjackets fall to 0-2
|The Sheridan Yellowjackets (0-2) struggled to find offense in a 35-7 home loss to the Hot Springs Lakeside Rams (1-1) on Friday, Sept. 4.|
The loss was the second at home in as many weeks for the Yellowjackets, but they will be able to regroup with a bye week before taking on Jacksonville on Friday, Sept. 18.
Against the Rams, Sheridan was held to just 218 yards, with 137 coming on the ground.
The Yellowjackets' only score came in the third quarter when Konner Canterbury connected with Peyton Edwards for a 20-yard touchdown.
By that time, Lakeside was already ahead 21-0, with the scores all coming from the passing game.
The Rams answered the Sheridan touchdown with one of its own near the end of the quarter and capped off the scoring after Sheridan fumbled a punt deep in its own territory.
It was one of three lost fumbles for the Yellowjackets on the night.
Canterbury finished the game 12-31 through the air for 81 yards and a score.
Eight different Yellowjackets caught passes in the game, led by Edwards with four receptions for 43 yards and a score. Trace Watkins caught two passes for four yards.
One pass each was hauled in by Trey Davis for 14 yards, Austin Tucker for 10 yards, Levi Flora for four yards, Landon Feimster for four yards and Caleb Cleveland for one yards.
On the ground, Canterbury led the team with 74 yards on 21 carries. Watkins ran the ball three times for 32 yards, Kaeden Phonvilai picked up 18 yards on his only carry and Edwards rushed the ball six times for 13 yards.
The Yellowjackets will take a week off before traveling to Jacksonville on Friday, Sept. 18 to face the Titans (1-0) who defeated Little Rock Mills 44-34 on Friday.
