AFC recaps 2014 wildfire activity

Arkansas Forestry Commission officials across the state prepare for a new year by looking at wildfire trends from the past, prepared by AFC Dispatch personnel. The year 2014 was another relatively mild one for wildfire activity – 16,867 acres burned in 1,240 documented wildfires, according to a release issued by Adriane Barnes from the AFC public information coordinator’s office. More than one-third of those wildfires took place on non-forested land. Compared to the previous year, 2014 wildfire statistics are higher.
