Expanded lights, décor for Christmas on the Square
Christmas on the Square is a long-time Grant County tradition, but that tradition will be different this year due to the current pandemic. In an effort to continue supporting and promoting Grant County and local shopping, replacing the traditional festival activities will be expanded decorations, light shows and more photo opportunities.

According to Dixie Covington Howard, writing in a 1984 report on file at the museum:
"Church services at the Methodist Church in Cane Creek was on one Sunday a month, with the Baptists having their services on a different Sunday. That way, everyone went to church two Sundays a month.

COVID-19 affects Thanksgiving gatherings
Family traditions associated with each holiday are a big part of what make holidays special. Perhaps for Easter, families attend church followed by a lunch. It might be a barbecue at the lake before the fireworks show on the 4th of July. For Thanksgiving, it is likely a meal of the typical sort, friends and family gorge themselves with delicious staples and homemade desserts.

Quorum Court levies millage rates, allocates COVID-19 relief funds
The Grant County Quorum Court met for this month's regular scheduled meeting last Monday, Nov. 16 and passed two ordinances.
The first ordinance was business as usual, as it involved the levying of millage rates in the county, something that the county has to do every year.

The Sheridan School Board met for its regular monthly meeting this past Monday, November 9. The meeting was held in the Sheridan High School Cafeteria so that social distancing could be practiced.

With the announcement of a vaccine for COVID-19, Grant County residents remain skeptical and cautious about getting the vaccine. In an informal Facebook survey of our followers, The Headlight found that the overwhelming majority of are not planning on getting the vaccine.

Tucked away in their various campsites across the state deer hunters enjoy the great outdoors. There is pattern in the culture of deer hunters. They tell stories with a creative license that glide back and forth between embellishment and flat-out lies. Good natured arguments breakout that have been refought verbatim so often they have become a stage play. Laughter and comradery are in abundance. However, hidden under the surface of the lighthearted banter are some serious discussions.
