County, state see record-breaking snowfalls
It probably comes as no surprise that weather is the leading local story this week. Last week's inclement weather broke numerous wintry weather records including the most snow in a three day period and lowest ever recorded temperature since the National Weather Service (NWS) began keeping records for Sheridan in the 1970s.

Council discusses COVID outbreak at jail, ball park facility renovation bids
The Sheridan City Council held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting this past Tuesday, February 2. The meeting was held at the Sheridan Parks and Recreation Center so that social distancing could be observed.

Sheridan Police Chief Jason Teague gave an update on the jail. Chief Teague also informed the council about a recent COVID-19 outbreak in the Sheridan Detention Center.

SFD hosts firefighting training
The Sheridan Fire Department recently hosted a day of training for men and women seeking to become firefighters and, in turn, help out their local communities.
Members from the Cabot, Arch Street, Prattsville, Leola, Tull, and Grapevine fire departments attended the training.
