SEVERAL ELEMENTARY STUDENTS joined local and state educators and officials for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Little Free Libraries program. The program was a joint effort of the Grant County Library and Sheridan and Poyen public schools to bring books to rural areas where the library is not as easily accessable and promote literacy throughout the county. The old newspaper boxes, donated by The Sheridan Headlight, were refurbished into little libraries and placed throughout the county in places like Leola, Tull, Poyen, Prattsville, etc. where anyone can pick up a book to read and/or drop one off for someone else to enjoy. The ribbon cutting for these happened last Monday, but the nine that have been created were already in service, ready for business.
