Angels Tree program accepting applications, angels can be adopted
This year has definitely been different in many ways, but one thing that remains the same is Christmas is still just a few short weeks away. Some Grant County families will struggle to provide for their children, accentuated by the pandemic and the financial hardships which come with it.

Community Theater to present 'Sheridan Night Live', community participation wanted
You could be a star!
The Grant County Theater had recently planned for their next show to be Alice in Wonderland, but as the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Those plans were put on hold and a new idea bloomed. 'Sheridan Night Live' will be presented in November at Movies in the Park and everyone is invited to participate through submitted video clips.

Early Voting
The first week of early voting is officially in the books as eager voters flocked to the polls in record numbers this past week. As of Saturday, 2,804 people, cast their ballots in Grant County - 23.3% of all registered voters. To put this number into perspective, only 650 people had voted after the first week of early voting in 2016.

SHS teacher faces child pornography charges, on administrative leave.
A Sheridan High School teacher was arrested last Thursday, October 22 in connection with charges charges of computer child pornography and pandering or possessing visual or print medium depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, according to law enforcement officials.

Quorum Court elects to disperse pandemic relief funds.
The Grant County Quorum Court held its monthly meeting this past Monday, October 19, electing to disperse $45,000 in federal pandemic relief monies to struggling Grand County residents. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress passed the CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) which allocated $2.2 trillion to state and federal relief programs

Fundraising benefits B-17 Memorial Park
On Saturday, Oct. 17, a ceremony was held at the B-17 Memorial Park to announce the donation of three new benches.
The fundraising was spearheaded by Paul Hackney, the junior deacon of the Seark Chapter of the Order of DeMolay.

When voters approved a millage increase in September 2016, the administration, teachers, students, and parents of the Sheridan School District had everything they could ever dream of. Exciting new projects, upgrades, and buildings were going to be underway across the district.

Board pleased with health clinic grant
The Sheridan School Board met for its monthly meeting on Monday, October 12. The meeting was coincidentally held on the same day that Arkansas Department of Education Secretary Johnny Key announced that the district would be one of the four districts in the state to receive over half a million dollars for a school-based health center.
