White returns to private sector of law
After serving for three years on the bench of the 33rd State District Court of Arkansas, Judge Emily White has returned to the private sector. White has joined the Little Rock Office of Caddell Reynolds Law Firm.

"Outside of family, working for the people of Arkansas occupies the largest portion of my heart, and has for 19 years. Whether in public service as a prosecutor, disciplinary counsel to the judiciary and a judge or working in private practice, my goal remains the same: work hard for each and every person I represent," White said in an email to the Headlight.

Council awarded $180,000 CARES ACT grant
The Sheridan City Council gathered for its first meeting of the new year this past Tuesday, January 5. The meeting was held at the Sheridan Recreation Center so that social distancing could be observed. Sheridan Clerk/Treasurer Carrie Smith informed the council that the city had been awarded over $180,000 from the state's CARES ACT funding

Gibson takes office as 33rd District Court judge
Billy Jack Gibson was sworn in as the newest judge for the 33rd State District Court of Arkansas. The oath of office was administered to Judge Gibson by Circuit Judge Chris Williams on New Year's Day in Malvern.

Judge Gibson said that he looks forward to serving the community.

Quorum court sets meeting dates, JPs sworn in
The Grant County Quorum Court met for a special meeting this past Tuesday, January 5. The special meeting has to be held every two years to swear in new members and set the times, dates, and locations for the regularly scheduled monthly meetings.

First round of COVID-19 vaccines hit Grant County
The first round of the COVID-19 vaccinations were administered in Grant County this past Wednesday, December 30. The vaccine arrived at McCoy Tygart Pharmacy on the previous Monday.

The employees of McCoy Tygart and Sheridan Family Pharmacy were among the first to receive the vaccine. The Arkansas Department of Health had recommended that those going out to administer the vaccine be vaccinated first.

Stephen Shirron was sworn in as the newest circuit judge for the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Arkansas at the Grant County Courthouse on New Year's Day. The oath of office was administered by Shirron's father, former Circuit Judge Phillip Shirron.

GCUCRC buys groceries for 200 families
Two hundred Grant and Dallas County families were gifted $85 worth of groceries last week thanks to a grant the Grant County Unified Community Resource Council received to help feed the needy in both counties.
GCUCRC, the parent organization for the Family Resource Center, Keeping the Faith Women's Shelter, Kathy's Closet resale store and food pantry, recently received $17,000 in grant funds to help feed families in need.
