Last month the Prattsville water department was struck by lightning. The pump was ruined and the aerator had to be repaired. This was discussed at the Prattsville City Council meeting last week.
The pump that got hit by lightning and had to be replaced. Within two days the city had a specialist working on the pump.
The aerator also was hit, but it did not have to be replaced. It only had to be repaired and cleaned.
Council Member Leslie Kervin said that nobody in Prattsville went without water as a result of the damage.
The health department came out and tested the water after the damage and found that it was still safe.
In other news, Fire Chief Chris Bean addressed the council.
Bean said that the new water tank has been installed on the fire truck and the tank is working well.
Bean also told the council that everything is running well at the fire department.
City department employee Joe Rhea also addressed the council. He said that everything in his department is up to par. He also noted that the health department had tested the water.
Rhea also brought the city's new vehicle to the meeting.
At last month’s meeting, the council approved the purchase of a new pickup truck -- a 2017 Dodge Ram.
