4/17/2013 4-H Fishing Derby, Big B Day to be held April 27
The 4-H Fishing Derby and Big B Day are scheduled for Saturday, April 27 at the Sheridan Recreation Center Pond. The Big B Day competitions include bicycle, baitcasting and BB shooting contests. The parking lot by the pond will be used for the Big B Day activities. The Big B Day competitions will begin at 8 a.m. and last until 10 a.m. Bring your bicycle and fishing rod for these activities. BB guns will be furnished for this activity.
The fishing derby will begin at 10 a.m. and last until noon. The 4-H Fishing Derby is sponsored by the Grant County 4-H Program and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will stock 300 catchable channel catfish for the derby.
There will be a limit of three fish per participant to ensure that everyone has a chance to catch fish. Those 16 and older must have a valid fishing license to fish. A license is not required for a parent to assist a child during the derby. Prizes will be awarded to winners in different categories.
Bring your own fishing rod, because rods will not be available. Bring your own fishing bait. Worms and chicken liver are excellent bait for catfish. Please call 942-2231 to register for the fishing derby and Big B Day. The 4-H Fishing Derby and Big B Day are open to all youth between the ages of 5 and 19.
