Teen bags county's biggest buck on record with Big Buck Classic
Deer hunting is a way of life for many Arkansans. With its rich timber industry thriving off dense forests, Grant County is home to huge bucks. Jonathan Dennis, 19 of Colt, currently holds the record (and bragging rights) for the biggest buck ever killed in Grant County, according to the Arkansas Big Buck Classic Organization

Recent winter weather wreaks havoc on water pipes, services around county
The recent record breaking winter weather wreaked havoc on utilities across the country. The frigidly low temperatures and record amounts of snow strained the energy grids across the country. Fortunately, most Arkansans were not without electricity for any extended period of time, an impressive feat considering the weather.

County considers fire district for Belfast
The Grant County Quorum Court met this past Feb. 22. The meeting was originally scheduled to be held the week prior, but had to be postponed due to inclement weather. All justices were present for the meeting.
The majority of the meeting was spent discussing the possible establishment of a fire protection district for the Belfast Fire Department.

It probably comes as no surprise that weather is the leading local story this week. Last week's inclement weather broke numerous wintry weather records including the most snow in a three day period and lowest ever recorded temperature since the National Weather Service (NWS) began keeping records for Sheridan in the 1970s.
