Hilda Allen

Hilda Allen of Sheridan, Ark., passed away on April 18 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab at the age of 85. She was born Sept. 11, 1930, in Bakersfield, Calif., to her parents, Brian and Ruby Saleen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 30 years: L.D. Allen of Sheridan; two brothers: Donnie and Richard Saleen; and one sister: Patty Dumas, all of California.

Mary Nell Harrison Stuckey

Mary Nell Harrison Stuckey, 88, of North Little Rock, Ark., passed away April 18, 2016. Mrs. Stuckey was born in Bearden, Ark., on April 5, 1928, the daughter of the late Jewel B. Harrison and Corrine Williams Harrison.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Wayne E. Stuckey, who died March 13, 2016.

She is survived by her two sons: Jerry W. and Don E. Stuckey, both of Little Rock.

Anna Barbara Burris Varnell

Anna Barbara Burris Varnell of Hensley, Ark., was born Oct. 7, 1965, at Little Rock, Ark., the daughter of Mary Sue Carr Burris and the late Homer “H.E.” Burris.

She was a member of Lone Pine Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as pianist. Anna truly had a servant’s heart, and was a caregiver to many, and a friend to all. She enjoyed shopping and making memories with her family, and she adored her cats.

Elizabeth Mae Lisenbey Benning

Elizabeth Mae Lisenbey Benning of Leola, Ark., was born Sept. 11, 1937, at Sheridan, Ark., the daughter of the late Robert Alton and Thelma Elizabeth Fite Lisenbey. 

She was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church and loved spending time with her large family. Everyone she met, whether a relative or not, called her “Grandma”.

Mildred Herring

Mildred Ann Ricketts Herring, 80, of White Hall, Ark., died April 20, 2016. Born May 27, 1935, in the Hardin community. She was a lifelong resident of the White Hall area. Her parents were the late Sam Albert Ricketts and Carrie Robertson Ricketts Clinton.

For 34 years, she worked as a licensed practical nurse, retiring in 1994. Mrs. Herring volunteered with the American Red Cross, traveling with them to several disaster areas to assist in relief efforts. She also enjoyed crocheting, attending activities with her children and grandchildren, cooking, and traveling.
